International Horse Show trots its way into Liverpool

For most, the New Year period is a brilliant time of year and people begin planning months in advance to be certain they begin the New Year with a bang. However, it can also be a bit of a stressful time. Do you stay in and relax with your partner and a takeaway? Do you go for a night on the tiles with your friends? Oh, but your aunt invited you to her house party too?! Decisions, decisions, so we’re hoping to make it easy for you this year!

For the first time, the brand new International Horse Show will grace the wonder that is the Echo Arena in Liverpool, on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of January 2016.

The world class sporting event will be a mixture of eventing, of course, and what Liverpool is renowned for – Entertainment! To keep a close connection to Liverpool, the entertainment bill will include a performance from the Bootleg Beatles.

Nina Barbour, the brilliant equestrian promoter from Bolesworth International announced; “We want to bring equestrian sport to the heart of the city. We see this as our Olympic legacy.

“I watched the equestrian events in the heart of England at the 2012 Olympics and I wanted to bring that kind of world class sport to the north west of England.

“Liverpool is world famous for its sporting and entertainment heritage and we want to put the city on the map as a centre of excellence for show jumping. We’re really proud to be working with such a go-ahead city and we hope we’ll become a key feature of Liverpool’s sporting and entertainment calendar.”

Born and bred Liverpudlian and gold medal winner for Show Jumping in the 2012 London Olympics, Peter Charles, will be flying the flag for the city and launched the Horse Show by clearing the London Olympics ‘Abbey Road’ Show Jumping fence on the Liverpool waterfront.

He stated “The Liverpool International Horse Show will be the hottest event for the world’s best show jumpers who are all preparing for the Rio Olympics… I can’t wait to perform in front of a Merseyside crowd in such a spectacular setting.”

The International Horse Show launch party will commence on New Year’s Eve at the Albert Dock in the centre of the city. The event is expected to draw in thousands of visitors from across the world to this magnificent city, something the Mayor of Liverpool sounded fairly pleased about and he supports the event completely.

He was quoted saying “I’m absolutely delighted that Liverpool is to stage a brand new, world class sports event. The city has a proud sporting heritage and to see the world’s best riders in the action on the Liverpool dockside confirms our status as one of the leading global sports cities.

“It will be a great start to the New Year and the event will contribute a huge amount to the city’s economy.”

There will be a shopping village selling everything from equestrian designer clothing, jewellery, gifts and much more, and if you really want to celebrate your New Year in style, you can opt for a VIP hospitality package with exclusive viewing boxes and a fine dining experience with brilliant views of all of the days events.

On another note, the main British eventing season is now well under way, so if you’re set to compete, there really is no better time than now to start cramming in all the last minute training that is possible, and begin grooming yourself and your horse.
